When I think of the holidays as a kid, my heart fills with joy. I can see the tree lights twinkling and hear the popping of the wood in the fireplace. The best memory was eating mom’s Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Skillet Cookie with ice cream on top and a tall glass of milk. Yum!
The Holidays Are Magical
When I close my eyes and think of the holidays, my heart fills with joy! We had a house full of kids and two parents who were awesome! My mom was a homemaker and she took pride in her job. Our home was always clean and smelled like cinnamon or vanilla. Mom was one of the best cooks I have ever known. She made everything from scratch. It is a wonder she didn’t keep the cookie jar under lock and key to keep us from sneaking a treat! I could not wait to be a mom just like her!
Cookies? Yes Please!
When I became a mom, it was fun to pass down many of our family holiday traditions. While many shoppers are snagging the best deals on Black Friday, my family stays at home. We spend the day decorating the tree and baking our favorite holiday treats. When my husband gets home from work, we have pizza, watch a movie and eat whatever we decided to bake that day. One of our favorites is my mom’s Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Skillet Cookie. My secret? I don’t make mine from scratch! Instead, I use our favorite Betty Crocker cookie mixes from Walmart!
Why Bake From Scratch If You Don’t Have To?
Don’t get me wrong, I love to cook from scratch when I can. But with the Betty Crocker cookie mixes from Walmart, I can get the homemade taste of mom’s from scratch recipe! Because I shop at Walmart, the prices are affordable, so I can stock up on all of our favorite flavors. Caitlin loves the White Chip Macadamia Nut Cookie Mix, while my husband loves the Snickerdoodle Cookie Mix. I am old fashioned! I love the traditional Chocolate Chip Cookie Mix.
