When I was younger, I would hide away from my dad and brothers when they watched football on TV. And then I met a boy who changed how I felt about the sport. He went to a local college and his parents had (4) 50 yard line season tickets. That year, the school had an undefeated record, went to a bowl game and ever since, my heart was sworn to always love this exciting game! My husband didn’t know I was a huge football fan until after we got married. I guess he got a hidden bonus in the marriage package, huh?!
With the big game just a few weeks away, I am quizzing my husband on what foods he wants me to serve. We have a short list of must have dishes, and then I come up with a few new ones as well. One of his favorites and one I love to make because it is so stinking easy, is my 5-Ingredient Cheesy Bread Bowl Dip. This is one of those recipes I wish you could like smell the screen or something to know how amazing this dip is!
And with just 5 ingredients, which I get from my local Walmart, it is super easy and affordable. In my playbook, this means we have a touchdown on my food scorecard! Also, be ready for this dip to go quickly because it is a real crowd pleaser. To make this 5-Ingredient Cheesy Bread Bowl Dip, I head over to Walmart and pick up these ingredients:
1 can of Manwich
1 can of RO*TEL tomatoes & green chilies
1 package of processed cheese, cut into 1″ cubes. OR you can use a jar or the packets of the cheese sauce or 2-3 cups of chredded cheese of your choice.
1 package of frozen meatballs
1 large piece of crusty sourdough (or comparable) bread
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Open one corner of meatball package and heat in microwave for 2 minutes. Dice or put in food processor and give it 304 pulses. In a medium sauce pan, add your Manwich, RO*TEL tomatoes, cheese and meatballs and cook over medium heat until the cheese is melted. While the mixture is cooking, slice off the top of the bread, and hollow it out and set this piece aside.
Bake bread for 10 minutes and remove from oven. Carefully pour your mixture into the bread bowl. Put back into the oven for 15 additional minutes. Cut the top piece of bread into chunks for dipping and put in oven for 5-7 minutes. You can also serve this 5-Ingredient Cheesy Bread Bowl Dip with veggies or chips.
Here is my fun kitchen hack for you!!! When you use the bread as your bowl, you have one less item to clean!! This means you are not running back and forth into the kitchen in between plays! I would much rather see that great play first hand than in an instant replay, right?
I love making recipes like this that don’t make you a slave to the kitchen. With such high quality products like the Manwich, RO*TEL tomatoes, and fresh bread, you cannot go wrong! I love adding fresh ingredients like bakery bread with my canned ingredients. It is like the perfect marriage of all the ingredients your family loves!
I love (and I am sure you do as well) into a dish. On game day, you need to be having a blast hanging with your favorite people and rooting for your team, not stressing out in the kitchen, right?! I mean, who wants to be stuck in the kitchen washing dishes when everyone else is having all the fun, right? So, head over to Walmart, pick up these ingredients and get this amazingly delicious 5-Ingredient Cheesy Bread Bowl Dip.
