This classic drink is a non-alcoholic mixed drink traditionally made with ginger ale, a splash of grenadine and garnished with a maraschino cherry. As an adult, I have not lost that love for the drink of my childhood. I have changed it to be an adult version, called a Dirty Shirley Cocktail.
The Dirty Shirley Cocktail is a light and refreshing drink. It is easy to make and your guests will love it. It will make the perfect signature drink for your next party. It is affordable and pairs well with virtually any food. This drink goes perfectly with my Pork Enchiladas with a Creamy Green Sauce!
What I love about this Dirty Shirley Cocktail, is you can change it to fit your taste. If you don’t have or like vodka, add tequila or gin. If you don’t have grenadine, add cranberry juice. Garnish with your favorite fruit if you don’t want the cherries. I had fresh blackberries and oranges, and they were perfect with this delicious drink! Leavve out the alcohol and you have a great mocktail for the kids.
To make the Dirty Shirley Cocktail , you will need:
1 oz vodka
5 – 6 oz lemon lime soda or club soda
1 dash grenadine syrup
Splash of Cranberry Juice (optional)
Squeeze of lemon
Add ice to your favorite cocktail glass. Pour your alcohol and soda. Top with the grenadine syrup and/or cranberry juice and stir. Add a squeeze of fresh lemon and garnish with fresh fruit.
