The cycles also use technology that combines the water and the detergent.
It then uses these to reduce electrical consumption by 25%. It reduces consumption by using less water. Then it uses less energy but a stronger spin cycle to remove what little water there is! But how much water is that? Over 33,000 gallons of water in a ENERGY STAR washer life cycle. That averages to a reduction of 45% less water use than regular models.
But what about ENERGY STAR dryers? They are impressive, with a 20% higher efficiency rating than other household dryers. Another benefit is the specific selection settings. There is one that allows you to dry clothes in a energy friendly setting. You can use this all the time to cut your hydro costs, while lowering your carbon footprint.
What does that mean? If every dryer in the US was ENERGY STAR it would remove the same amount of toxins into the area as 2 million cars. That may not sound like a lot, but that is the same as the total population of Chicago or Houston. ENERGY STAR uses different heating settings to influence the rate of dry for the cycles. It has many amazing features including a steam cycle to decrease the amount of wrinkles. Yay! That means I don’t spend all day bent over my ironing board!
