This post contains affiliate links and/or images. I am so excited the kids are starting school soon. I am ready to get back to our routine. I also enjoy being a hands on mom in the classroom. I always volunteer to help wherever their teacher needs me. One thing I have learned from my years of helping out in the classroom is how many supplies are needed. Did you know teachers pay out of pocket for a large portion of their classroom necessities?
Each year, I like to make a basket for the kids’ teachers. I will fill it with things they need for their desk or the classroom. I know how messy kids can be, so I make sure to include cleaning supplies in the basket. I also make a cute craft to go in it as well. I think Mr. Powell is going to love his Mason Jar Apple Pencil Holder Teacher Gift Craft!
This year, I decided to add a few bottles of Windex®. I placed a bottle of the Windex® Original Glass Cleaner and the Windex® Vinegar Multi-Surface Cleaner. These are the two I use most at home, so I knew Mr. Powell could use them as well.
We headed to Kroger to stock up on the supplies for our basket. I was so excited to see a great promotion when you buy two bottles of Windex®. When you Buy 2 Windex® products, you also get $20 to shop at Shutterfly®! Disclaimer: Offer valid 7/15/17 – 12/1/17. Visit HERE for terms and conditions. Isn’t that fantastic?! What a great way to really capture those special back to school photo opportunities. This deal allows you to “Make Moment’s Shine” with Windex® and Shutterfly®!
What pictures would you capture with your $20 to shop at Shutterfly®? I can think of so many! I would definitely photograph their last trip to the water park and Henry’s 16th birthday party. I would also be sure to get a great shot of their first day of school in their new school clothes. With your Windex® Original Glass Cleaner, you can get rid of all those smudges and finger prints on the windows, doors and mirrors. Nothing ruins a great photo like a dirty window!
What do you use your Windex® products on at home? I use the Windex® Original Glass Cleaner on all of our glass surfaces. This includes the mirror and glass shower door in the bathroom, our front windows and the glass table on the deck. The formulation with Ammonia-D®, Windex® Original Glass Cleaner starts working on fingerprints, dirt, and other messes even before you wipe. I love how those surfaces really shine!
I also love to use the Windex® Vinegar Multi-Surface Cleaner. This Windex® cleaner is great to use as a bathroom cleaner, kitchen cleaner, tile cleaner, stainless steel cleaner, and much more. I love that the ammonia-free formula has no harsh vinegar smell. Just a fresh, clean scent.
So, for the fun addition to the kid’s teacher basket, I wanted to make a cute craft. That is why Caitlin and I decided on this adorable Mason Jar Apple Pencil Holder Teacher Gift Craft:. It was super easy to make. It only took a few hours. Most of that time was waiting for the paint to dry. If you already have Mason Jars at home, this craft will only cost you about $5. Awesome, right?!
[youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1FPBd_Y-xS0]What you will need to make your Mason Jar Apple Pencil Holder Teacher Gift Craft:
Pint size Mason Jar
Smaller Mason Jar (optional)
Primer or white spray paint
Red spray or acrylic paint. I used a milk paint for a more antique look.
Green card stock or scrapbook paper
Twine or ribbon
Paint brush (if using acrylic or other bottled paint)
Scissors
Hole punch
Pencils, pens or markers
Candy (optional)
Chalkboard labels or clips (optional)
Chalkboard pen (optional)
Step One: Clean mason jar thoroughly with Windex® Original Glass Cleaner
Step Two: Paint your mason jar with primer or white matte paint. I recommend two coats. Allow to dry thoroughly in between coats.
Step Three: Paint your primed mason jar with your red paint. I recommend two coats. Allow to dry thoroughly in between coats.
Step Four: Cut two leaves from your green scrapbook paper.
Step Five: Write your kid’s teacher’s name on one of the leaves.
Step Six: Punch a hole at the top of your leaves.
Step Seven: Run your twine or ribbon through the holes and tie around the Mason Jar Apple Pencil Holder Teacher Gift Craft.
Step Eight: **Optional** Attach chalkboard label or clip onto the front of the Mason Jar Apple Pencil Holder Teacher Gift Craft. Using your chalkboard pen, write a fun saying!
Step Nine: Fill your finished Mason Jar Apple Pencil Holder Teacher Gift Craft with pencils, pens, markers, etc. We made a second, smaller jar to fill with candy.
