This post was sponsored by the Role Mommy Writer’s Network. All opinions are 100% mine. Hello! My name is Kelly and I am an addict. A television addict that is. I blame this on my dad! He drove a city bus all day. When he got home, all he wanted was his dinner, a cold soda and his favorite show on the television. My sister and I would be sitting on the floor, next to the sofa, which was dad’s favorite spot. For that hour before bed, we watched shows like Outer Limits, Night Gallery and The Twilight Zone. Dad had gotten me addicted to the world of science fiction and I loved it!
Now I am a parent and I have passed down my love of TV and sci-fi to my kids. After dinner, the kids and I will cuddle up on the sofa and turn on our favorite science fiction and fantasy shows. Among our favorites are Doctor Who and Supernatural. When I learned Eric Kripke, (“Supernatural”), and Shawn Ryan (“The Shield”), had a new show coming to TV this fall, I could not contain my excitement! This new show, Timeless, is everything a sci-fi addict could want and more!
This thrilling action-adventure series transports you throughout time. The shows premise surrounds a mysterious criminal, Flynn (Goran Visnjic), who steals a secret state-of-the-art time machine. He is intent on destroying America as we know it by changing the past. The only hope the nation has is from an unexpected team: Lucy (Abigail Spencer), a history professor; Wyatt (Matt Lanter), a soldier; and Rufus (Malcolm Barrett), a scientist, They will use the machine’s prototype to travel back in time to critical events. Can this unlikely team travel through time to chase this criminal mastermind and protect the past.before it’s too late?
I absolutely love Abigail Spencer’s character, Lucy. She is the unlikely heroine of this exciting new show and she is fantastic!! A group of us were able to interview Abigail and get a feel for her personally as well as professionally. I love that this busy mom makes time to fly her son to New York where she was on a press trip for the show. As we were starting the interview, Abigail was saying goodbye to him as he flew back to Vancouver. So many feels! Abigail told us after coming from being on Rectify for four years, she was not sure she wanted to offer up the commitment it takes to be on a television show.
Abigail told us when she first read the script, she had what she called a “Lucy Preston moment.” She explains much like when they come to Lucy and tell her she must come with them and time travel is real, Lucy says, “No it’s not. Bye everybody!”, Abigail felt the same way! She further explained this was the perfect attitude to have when approaching being on a show about such an outlandish subject as time travel. After several conversations with her management team.
She was able to meet with Eric Kripke and Ryan, really connected with the guys. She said the kicker surrounded the other actresses who were given teh script and were offered an audition to be Lucy. Abigail said five of these actresses came to her and told her she had to play Lucy because the part was written for her. That is when she finally decided to take the leap and sign up for the show.
