My mom would buy everyone a new outfit to wear to church. As you can see from my picture of my mom and me, we had a complete head to toe look! It was so hard to sit through church because we knew how much fun we would have once we got home. Mom went all out with hiding the Easter eggs, making our Easter baskets and making an amazing meal for our large family.
I have a huge sweet tooth, so candy was always a big part of our Easter baskets. Now that I am a mom, I try to do my mom proud each year and make Easter a fun and memorable time for my family. I may not be dressing the kids in the fashionable style of the 60’s, but I do get them something nice to wear. For their Easter baskets, I love to mix up the goodies, between candy, chocolates and some fun items the kids can enjoy for a long time past the big day.
For the sweet part of their Easter baskets, I choose yummy treats I know they really love and that I feel good about giving to them. Luckily for me, I can find all the Easter candy and chocolate I need at Target. To sweeten that even more, I can save when I buy some of our favorite confectionary treats. I was so delighted to see so many of our favorites were on sale at Target.
For instance, the M&M’s White Strawberry Shortcake are only being sold for a limited time and exclusively at Target and you can grab this coupon and save 15% on all M&M’s! Because they were also on sale at Target, I grabbed a bag of the DOVE Peanut Butter Eggs and a 4.5oz. DOVE Milk Chocolate Bunny.
I also had to grab a few bags of the Starburst Jellybeans for Caitlin as she is obsessed with them! Good thing there is a 10% off coupon on those as well!
I grabbed a bag of the Starburst Sweet & Sour Jellybeans as well as a bag of the Starburst FaveReds. By using this coupon for 10% off Starburst Jellybeans, I was able to stock up! I rounded things off by grabbing a few of the Skittles Bunny Toppers. They are super adorable, no matter what age you are! Be sure to visit your local Target Super Store, where they will be hosting a sampling event March 20th.
Because Caitlin is a big music lover, I wanted to get her some fun music related items for her Easter basket. Because I can always count on Target for their wide range of products and affordability, I was able to make this Easter Basket For Music Lovers really shine. I chose to get her a CD of her favorite musical group.
To add some humor, I found a fun pair of bunny socks in the $1 section. On the way out of the store, I found a colorful wireless speaker as well as a matching pair of earbuds. Each of these were just $5. I was able to fill up Caitlin’s Easter basket (which we had at home) for just $50. I was super excited!
Because I love to add a homemade touch, I like to make fun containers to put the kid’s goodies in. This year, I decided to make a very simple DIY Pillow Box Treat Holder. All you need to make your pillow box is:
- Small pillow box template
- Pretty scrapbook paper (you can print 2 of the small pillow boxes)
- Scissors
- Glue stick
- Serrated butter knife
Print the pillow box template I got from Homemade Gifts Made Easy, onto the patterned scrapbook paper. You can fit two on one piece of paper
Score the dotted lines with a serrated butter knife (or you can use a needle point hook, a large needle, etc.
Place the paper with the patterned side down. Fold the side on the dotted lines. Glue the patterned side, fold on the middle line (this will press the paper with the printed template together and the patterned side facing out.) Let this dry completely.
Now carefully fold in the scored ends. Fold one end onto itself and glue. Wait until this end is completely dry.
Now you are ready to fill your DIY Pillow Box Candy Holder with your favorite Mars and Wrigley Easter treats from Target.
I had barely taken my photos before Caitlin was putting her hand out for some of her favorite Starburst Jellybeans from Target! I think she got her mom’s sweet tooth!!
What is your favorite #EasterSweet from Target?
