Easy DIY Halloween Candy Jar Craft
Can you believe Halloween is a few weeks away? This Easy DIY Halloween Candy Jar Craft will put you in a Halloween frame of mind!
My kids are about the bust the seams of their costumes in anticipation! Poor Henry has never been very good at patience, so it is especially difficult for him.
I think Caitlin is going to go as Bloody Mary. She has been volunteering at Frightworks, a local haunted house and that is the character they assigned her to play. She has been having so much fun!

They had family night at Frightworks, but I could not do it!
I am the biggest chicken in the world!
If you say boo to me in a well lit room, I will jump and scream! My husband and son on the other hand love the thrill of the scare! I am happy to stay home and make some fun crafts for the family while they get the daylights scared out of themselves!
I cannot tell you how much I love this Easy DIY Halloween Candy Jar Craft. It is so easy it is not even funny. It took us less than 30 minutes to complete the craft. What takes the most time is allowing the paint and glue to dry. Which I would rather watch than to go to a creepy haunted house! And to eat some of the candy before the kids get home!
My other favorite thing about this DIY Halloween Candy Jar Craft is how cheap it is to make. We shop at Hobby Lobby in Knoxville. If you don’t have a Hobby Lobby, you could find these items at Michael’s, JoAnn Fabric or Walmart.
The candlesticks were about $1 each, the paint was less than $1 and the candy jars were less than $2. Of course the candy will be the most expensive part of the craft. Because the candy jars are small, it didn’t take much to ill them up.
This Easy DIY Halloween Candy Jar Craft was one of the more fun crafts we have made. It was fun seeing the candlesticks come to life when we added the glitter. Caitlin matched the ribbons to the candy that was in the jars. Everything just came together perfectly.
If you have smaller kids at home, they can help you paint and filling the candy jars. For the older kids, they can make this on their own. It makes a great after school of weekend project.
The supplies you will need:
Wooden Candlesticks
Glass candy jars or small mason jars
Paint
Paint brush
Strong glue
Ribbon
Candy
Step One: Paint your candlesticks. I used basic black acrylic paint. We found some glitter paint that was clear with black glitter. We put that on top of the basic black. Do two coats of each and allow to dry completely between coats.
Step Two: Glue candy jars to painted candlesticks. We were going to use Tacky Glue, but it didn’t hold. We used a strong super glue and it worked great.
Allow to dry at least 3-4 hours before filling with candy.
Step Three: Paint the lids of the candy jars to match the candlesticks. We used a white glass paint base before adding the black. You can skip this step if you like. We decided the black lids looked better than the plain lids.
Step Four: Tie your ribbon around the flat part of the candy jar, under where the lid fits.
Step Five: Fill with candy and enjoy!
What color paint would you choose? What candy would you fill your DIY Halloween Candy Jar Craft with? I would love to hear your choices!
