This post contains affiliate links and/or images. Did you love to dig in the dirt when you were a kid? How about as an adult? Do you enjoy gardening? I used to love watching my mom tend our beautiful garden. Roses grew up our fence and a huge strawberry patch adorned our deck. There was a variety of flowers growing along the driveway. She was brilliant at it!
Because we have a small yard, I cannot expand my garden as mom did. Instead, I have concentrated my efforts in small containers. As my thumb is not a green as mom’s, I plant things that take minimal effort to grow. In the kitchen, we have mint, large leafed parsley and basil growing. In the living room, I am preparing to grow curled parsley and hot and spicy oregano and sage. With Caitlin’s help, I am going to plant them in my DIY Ombre Painted Mason Jar Planters.
One thing is consistent about gardening, no matter the size. You sure do get your hands dirty! Even if I wear gloves, my hands seem to get caked in dirt! And to be honest, what is the fun of wearing gloves? I want to feel that soil between my fingers! My hands get so dry from repeated washings. I hate it! And if I apply lotion after I wash my hands, it is gone once I wash them again. That is until I discovered the most wonderful product!
I discovered the new SoftSoap® Hand Wash Plus Lotion™ at my local Target. It is amazing! It leaves my hands feeling clean AND soft! Never before has there been a hand wash made with a bit of lotion. The unique and non-greasy formula locks in moisture, leaving my hands soft and smooth. My husband cannot stop holding my hands! I kind of love that! You can find the Plus Lotion in three amazing scents; Shea & Cocoa Butter, Orchid & Coconut Milk and Aloe Water & Lime.
As a nurse, I know the importance of hand hygiene. This means my family washes their hands multiple times a day. With other hand soaps, not only do our hands get dry, they can crack. before using the Plus Lotion from SoftSoap, I was stumped as to how to alleviate this.
When you use the Plus Lotion from SoftSoap, you get a caring clean. When Caitlin and I are planting our DIY Ombre Painted Mason Jar Planters, we use the Plus Lotion. Now our hands get clean and hydrated and are touchably soft! I have a bottle in the kitchen, the bathroom and in our camping gear.
What you will need to make your DIY Ombre Painted Mason Jar Planters Craft:
- 3 Wide Mouth Mason Jars
- 3 Acrylic paints in varying shades from dark to light
- 1 Can of white spray paint or primer
- Foam brushes
- Flowers or greenery of your choice
- Soil
- Drainage rocks
Step 1: Spray paint each mason jar with the white paint or primer. This will allow the acrylic paint to go on more easily and evenly. Allow to dry at least 30-45 minutes.
Step 2: Using your foam brush, paint one of the mason jars with the darkest color. Repeat with each mason jar, with each paint, until you get to the very lightest color. Allow to dry at least 30-45 minutes before painting your next coat. I paint 2-3 coats total. If you want to paint stripes, just use painters tape like I did in my Patriotic Painted Mason Jars. Because you are watering your plants, you may want to seal your DIY Ombre Painted Mason Jar Planters.
Step 3: Add your drainage rocks, soil and flowers or greenery. Now you have a beautiful decorative item, centerpiece for a table or planter for your favorite herb or flower.
Step 4: Now you can display your beautifully painted DIY Ombre Painted Mason Jar Planters! Aren’t they pretty?!
