This post contains affiliate links and/or images. I am jealous of my husband’s sleeping habits! He can sleep at a movie, a music festival (it happened), in a car, or anywhere you could imagine. He cannot sleep unless the TV is on, but the light bothers me. This makes it hard for me to sleep. To block the light, I made a No Sew Relaxing Sleep Pillow.
When my kids were little and they couldn’t fall asleep, I would use the No Sew Relaxing Sleep Pillow. It is easy to make and only takes a few inexpensive items. These also make a nice handmade gift!! You can also heat it up in the microwave and use it to relieve sore muscles.
All you need is:
- 1/4 yard of fabric (I choose flannel because it is nice and soft)
- Scissors
- Measuring tape
- Iron on tape
- Iron
- Long grain rice
- Lavender oil
- Small bowl
- Spoon
Step 1:Pour 2 cups of rice into a bowl. Place 10 drops of lavender oil (adjust to your preference) and stir.
Step 2: Cut two pieces of fabric, 5″ x 10″
Step 3:Lay the 2 pieces of fabric, patterned side up, on top of each other. Place the iron on tape in between the 2 pieces of fabric on one end and the two long sides. Following the directions, iron the 3 sides together.
Step 4: Snip the tips of the fused corners.
Step 5: Turn the sleep pillow right side out. Using the spoon or small measuring cup, pour the rice into the sleep pillow. Don’t overfill the pillow.
Step 6: Fold the open side under and close with the iron on tape.
Now you are ready to use your new relaxing sleep mask!>center/>

March 11, 2016 at 8:15 amI will certainly make one of these asap. I would like to suggest this would be great for stress relief, also. Simply make one with eucalyptus mint oil, which is aroma therapy for stress. So thankful for awesome DIL ideas such as these! ?

March 7, 2016 at 7:56 pmmmmmmm sleep pillow… now that’s an element of self care I can get into. My aunt swear by filling them with cherry pits, but I’m not sure I can tell the difference.

March 7, 2016 at 8:27 pmWhat an adorable sleep pillow. Sometimes it is nice to have a comfy little something to block out the light and put some gentle pressure on the forehead. I wonder how people manage to drop off to sleep so easily. It’s good to know there’s something convenient that will help with falling asleep.
